| Free FOI journal launched | |

March 23rd 2005 A new international freedom of information journal was launched yesterday by British academic Steve Wood. Available free online, Open Government: a journal on freedom of information is funded by School of Business Information at Liverpool John Moores University. Wood, who is a Senior Lecturer in information management at the University founded the journal after receiving feedback that there was a need for an International journal in this subject. His editorial board includes academics, lawyers, practitioners and journalists, from Europe, USA, India, Australia and New Zealand. The journal will publish research and analysis from the perspective of academics, practitioners and FOI users. The inaugural issue contains articles on FOI in India, the interaction between Data Protection and Freedom of Information and a report from 3rd annual Information Commissioner’s conference This journal is to be quarterly and is available at www.opengovjournal.org. Commenting on the launch, Wood said: ‘Open Government is an excellent new opportunity for the publication of new peer reviewed research about freedom of information legislation from around the world.’ |
